The year of firsts, lasts and all the smiles shared in between
Senior year is a roller coaster ride of emotions for both mom and senior. There are so many important "lasts" (last football game, last band concert, last day of high school) but there also so many important "firsts" (first college visit, first acceptance letter). Senior pictures are, in some ways, a rite of passage. I find that most seniors really are quite excited about their senior session and I am excited for them!
I work with each senior and their parents to figure out what setting will work best for their shoot. Downtown Des Moines is a popular spot with tons of options to work with. Or I also often shoot at Brenton Arboretum or Greenwood Park for a more outdoorsy look. Or maybe your senior wants a little bit of both? I can make that happen!
I don't enforce strict timelines, outfit changes or locations but I do have suggestions of what I've seen to work best over the last several years. I help seniors finalize their outfit choices so they have the most flattering options that we know will look good on camera. Finally, my lovely senior ladies are treated to professional hair and make-up styling from Allissa with All Dolled Up Makeup Designs. Honestly, the girls love getting pampered and feeling like a model for day and it makes a huge difference in their level of confidence (which shines through on camera).
